What happens is that, originally, Nintendo announced that the release date of Super Mario Bros. The Movie it would be December 21, 2022 in the United States. This means that today would have been the premiere of the expected tape.

Now, what the hell happened to make you Super Mario Bros. The Movie was it late? In April 2022, Nintendo confirmed that they had made the decision to move the release date of this tape.
In the announcement, Nintendo remained tight-lipped as usual and so it is unknown what the exact reason for the delay was. Super Mario Bros. The Movie. That said, surely the production was not ready or simply did not reach the quality standards that Nintendo usually has with Mario.
This is Miyamoto. After consulting with Chris-san, my partner at Illumination on the Super Mario Bros. film, we decided to move the global release to Spring 2023–April 28 in Japan and April 7 in North America. My deepest apologies but I promise it will be well worth the wait.
