Sudo command in Windows, what it is for and what you can do: is it as powerful as in Linux?

Although it is currently only available to users of the Windows 11 Insider program, the news has generated a lot of expectation, since the company is working to integrate its own version of the sudo command natively.

Sudo is short for superuser do and allows you to execute commands as if you were the superuser or system administrator. On Linux, it is an essential tool that speeds up tasks and improves security because it avoids the need to share administrative credentials.

This means that you can perform tasks that would normally be restricted, such as modifying system files, installing software, configuring the firewall or managing users. In short, it allows you to execute commands with elevated privileges, improve security, and speed up administrative tasks with shortcuts.

How does the sudo command work in Windows?

It is important to mention that the arrival of sudo to Windows does not add completely new capabilities, since Windows already has its own sudo system. User account control (UAC) and commands as runes for administrative tasks.
