Nabil Abdulá, Army spokesman, has indicated that the commission will investigate and evaluate the security situation, while they have arranged a new military command to contain the violence in the area, which has been under a state of emergency since Friday.

Clashes between the Hausa and Birta ethnic groups date back to mid-July over a dispute over land ownership in Wad al Mahi district.

This Sunday, hundreds of protesters have set fire to a government office in Ad Damzin, in the state of Blue Nile, in protest at the increase in violence, according to the newspaper ‘Sudan Tribune’.
