The Government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) are collaborating within the CORPYME project on the internationalization of SMEs in the Member States of the Community of Latin American States and Caribbean (CELAC) using digital tools.

A part of this CORPYME project focuses on the digital transformation for the internationalization of SMEs in Korea and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). In this context, the realization of this course arises, which aims to contribute to the strengthening of support tools for the digital transformation of exporting SMEs in LAC, offered by both the public and private sectors.
Course Objectives
• Present concepts necessary to understand digital transformation and the challenges faced by SMEs, with emphasis on the relationship between digital transformation, exports and electronic commerce.
• Provide value inputs for organizations dedicated to the design and provision of support instruments for the digital transformation of SMEs, including the most important features that must be considered and the most frequent tools.
• Establish a framework for the design, implementation and monitoring of digital transformation programs with special emphasis on public policies.
• Examine public and private digital transformation programs that are of interest to LAC from the point of view of operational issues.
• Formulate good practice recommendations to promote the digital transformation of SMEs for export in LAC.
Methodology
The five thematic modules of this distance course are delivered in multimedia (lectures, video tutorials, interviews) and interactive formats (virtual classes and discussion forums) to facilitate learning and understanding of knowledge. Each module ends with a short test to assess the knowledge acquired. During the development of the course, students will be accompanied by specialist tutors in the subject.

Course duration
This course takes place between May 15 and June 24, 2023, organized into five weekly modules. The approximate total academic load is 25 hours. Each module includes reading materials, viewing tutorials and videos with interviews, participating in a synchronous virtual class, and taking a small multiple-choice test.
