Talent retention is one of the factors that many companies try to strengthen and, according to a report published by the health consultancy Mercer Marshwork stress is one of the elements that most motivates employees to change jobs.

Thus, they found that of the 4,000 surveyed in Latin America and the Caribbean, 48% of workers reported feeling stressed In day to day. That is, 4 out of 10 collaborators.
Faced with risk factors, work pressures occupy 54%; poor leadership, 39% and toxic cultures, 37%. In addition, 55% of the employees indicated that the previous year they worked without feeling mentally well and 61% did it without feeling physically well.
The researchers state that this “represents a risk for organizations, which can materialize in absenteeism, turnover, decreased productivity and profitability.”

In the case of Colombiawhere more than 1,000 workers participated, 65% considered that their employer cares about their health and 62% of Colombian employees said they had worked, even if they did not feel well physically or emotionally.
According to Ariel Almazán, health leader of Mercer Marshthe difficulty in retention is associated, as was also evidenced in the results of the survey, “to the designs in work schedules, workloads and employment conditions, as well as job satisfaction.”
In addition, as Carolina Botero, professor of Psychology, affirms, “a situation of chronic work stress can trigger burnout or professional burnout.”

And Almazán adds that “a person with a problem of professional burnout, anxiety and stress, is more prone to having accidents at work, their productivity is reduced and this, of course, affects the profitability of the organization.”
For this reason, Almazán insists on the importance of “having healthy and balanced workplaces and organizations”.
