The one that back in 2017 was guru of former US President Donald Trump (2017-2021), Steve Bannon, will end up in prison. He has been arrested twice – once in 2020 and another in 2021, during the Republican magnate’s mandate – and, now, the federal judge of the country has ordered his admission to jail the next 1st of July to serve a sentence for contempt of Congress – which is why he was arrested the second time.
Bannon was an advisor to Trump and, in addition to being known for his controversial and strong policies related to the most radical republican wingwas also one of the drivers of the penetration of the radical right into the European Union. The one from Norfolk (Virginia) dedicated himself to promoting these policies while he served as an advisor to the White House and after leaving it.
Bannon, 70, was arrested for “contempt of Congress” in October 2021after refuse to comply with a subpoena issued by the Select Committee on the unpublished assault on the Capitol on January 6 where four people died and dozens were arrested. He was indicted by a federal grand jury for two counts of criminal contempt and, in July 2022, it was condemned on both counts in a jury trial. The sentence dictated four months in prison and one penalty fee of 6,500 dollars.
Bannon’s other arrest occurred on August 20, 2020 for alleged fraud in collecting donations in relation to the construction of the US-Mexico border wall.
Specifically, the committee wanted Bannon will testify because I thought I had some prior knowledge about what was going to happen that January 6th.
“They want to silence the MAGA movement”
According to Bannon, who declared after hearing the ruling, with this decision “They want to silence the MAGA movement [siglas del eslogan de campaña del Partido Republicano, “Make America Great Again”]silence rank-and-file conservatives, and silence President Trump.”
The considered far-right It’s one of the two former members of the magnate’s inner circle who were facing judicial proceedings for not participating in the parliamentary investigation. The second is also the former advisor Peter Navarrowho already entered prison last March to serve another four-month sentence.
Own Trump was quick to react at the order of the judge, ensuring on his social network truth that “it would not have mattered if Steve Bannon or others had appeared before the unselected Committee of hackers and criminal thugs“because, according to the new Republican candidate”All information ended up being illegally deleted and destroyed by those corrupt radicals!“.
