Starting in 2024, the iPhone Pro and non-Pro will integrate the same SoC

It looks like Apple will integrate the same SoC into all of its iPhones starting in 2024, starting with a 3nm chip made by TSMC.

The new iPhones are expected within a few weeks. A few days ago we saw that the processor that these iPhone 14 will use is an Apple Bionic A15, the same one that integrates the iPhone 13 that are already on the market, but with some performance improvements and prepared to manage 6 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB.

The new information that comes to us from Phone Arena is that Apple is going to integrate different SoCs for the next iPhone 14. The Pro model is expected to feature a new SoC, the A16 Bionic manufactured at 4nm, while the normal model would integrate the A15 Bionic, manufactured at 5 nm, both by TSMC. This is the common situation for Apple: that the Pro model has a more advanced processor than normal.

Nevertheless, for the 2024 iPhone it seems that the situation will change and both models will arrive with the same SoC, a 3nm chip manufactured by TSMC. This is a good change of perspective for those who always opt for the top model to have the most powerful processor. Still, it is expected that there will be some minor difference between the 2024 iPhone processors.

There are still two years left for this to happen, if it happens, so the iPhone 14 and 15 (2022 and 2023) will continue to use the same hierarchy as before. It will also be necessary to see if the iPhone 14 arrive with a price increase, as rumors suggest.

At the age of 15 I started overclocking my PC to squeeze out every extra FPS I could in games and scratch a few milliseconds in SuperPi, while posting tirelessly about hardware on the Geeknetic forum as a user and reader. Surely they were so tired of continually reading me in the forum that I became part of the writing team, in which I continue to report on the latest technology. Astrophysics and PC gaming are the hobbies that, after hardware, cover most of my free time.
