September 26 () –
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has acknowledged to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the war against Russia is at a “critical moment” both because of the Ukrainian incursion into the Russian Kursk region and because of the advances of Kremlin forces in Donbas, in the east of the country and one of the main focuses of the invasion unleashed in February 2022.
“(Starmer) has acknowledged that Ukraine is at a critical point in the war and has reiterated that British support is unwavering and will continue as long as necessary,” reads a statement from the Office of the British Prime Minister, who met with Zelensky on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
The Ukrainian leader thanked the United Kingdom for all the help it had offered since the beginning of the conflict. They then discussed the security situation and the different ways to strengthen Ukraine, especially through additional defence assistance.
They also discussed the Ukrainian peace formula, preparations for the second peace summit, cooperation between Ukraine and NATO, and negotiations for the signing of an agreement on a closer bilateral partnership.
