Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will have more realistic and lethal lightsabers

Although several companies will not go to gamescom 2022, Ubisoft confirms attendance

Star Wars it’s a franchise with a lot of iconic items, like the lightsaber. This weapon is extremely lethal in the movies. In video games it is difficult to transmit this characteristic, but that will change in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Obviously, for gameplay reasons, lightsabers cannot be as effective in videogames because with just 1 well-hit hit he would kill almost any opponent he fights with, since the characteristic of these sabers is that they cut almost anything and only another lightsaber resists.

However, Respawn Entertainment got to work to try to make it Star Wars Jedi: Survivor had more realistic and lethal lightsabers and it did.

Lightsabers will be able to slice Stormtroopers in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

We know this thanks to new gameplay released by Electronic Arts (via IGN). Thanks to this trailer we can see that lightsabers will not only be able to cut wild creatures that get in the way of Cal Kestis, but for the first time he will be able to do this with Stormtroopers.

This is a great novelty, since it indicates that the player will be able to finish off these opponents with a single hit and the game will be able to reflect it on the screen by showing severed arms or legs of the Stormtroopers thanks to the power of the Epic Games graphic engine and the power of the current generation consoles and PC, something that did not happen with the previous installment, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

In case you missed it: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will have one of the best features of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

It is important to mention, however, that, as we told you, the realism of lightsabers cannot be fully projected in video games. While lightsabers will be able to slice through Stormtroopers in combat, it won’t be possible to replicate this with more imposing enemies that require more hits to defeat. Instead, these characters will show damage to their armor, just like in the previous installment.

Below you can see the upgraded lightsabers at the 7:48 mark of the trailer below. If you watch the entire trailer you will also be able to see how Respawn Entertainment worked on Cal Kestis’ lightsaber stances.
