Star Citizen is on its way to becoming another “Duke Nukem Forever”, a game with a development that will take years to see the light. Already in 2018 we told you about this game and the accusations of wasting money by its developer.
Now, it has been known that the game has raised nothing more and nothing less than $500 million between its different financing campaigns with Crowdfunding. Despite this astronomical figure, which makes it the most expensive game in history, Star Citizen the game has not yet reached its final version.
Almost 4,100,000 people have contributed money to game development since the funding campaign began 10 years ago. The company has stopped offering specific dates on the release of new features to the alpha version to avoid user discontent, but for now it seems that things are going to take a long time. What is really striking is that they continue to receive user funding, so it seems that there is a fairly committed fan base with the game.
Will we ever see the release of Star Citizen? Will it take 15 years to develop like Duke Nukem Forever did, or will it be lost in delay and controversy?
