Spotify, a platform that never stops growing
The expectation that Wrapped has generated is an example of how popular the platform is, since according to its latest quarterly report, monthly active users grew 11% year-on-year to reach 640 million.
Users using the Premium plan also increased 12% to 252 million, which paid for a 19% year-over-year increase in revenue to $4.2 billion.
According to Daniel Ek, CEO of Spotify, the company is “even further away” from where they had proposed in terms of financial growth. “We have never been in a stronger position, thanks to the excellent execution of our team,” he commented.
Among the options that the company launched this quarter, the expansion of playlists generated through Artificial Intelligence in the United States, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand stands out, as well as the availability of an AI-based DJ for Spanish-speaking users.
Spotify DJ joins Wrapped
In fact, the use of this tool, whose voice is based on Spotify senior editor Olivia “Livi” Quiroz, also generates information for Wrapped and connects the use of AI with people’s musical experience.
The technology was made from Google’s AI note-taking resource, NotebookLM, which can generate a podcast with “hosts” from research, which in this case, is the user’s summary.
Specifically, AI DJ provides a next-level listening experience to Wrapped, delivering information about your year along with the music that marked it. It is available in English and also in Spanish for the Mexican market.
