It seems that Apple and Spotify are involved in some controversy related to the possibility of buying audiobooks in the application of the music streaming service, because according to what we read in TheVergethe strict rules that Apple has in its App Store, aimed at Apple receiving 30 percent of all in-app purchases, are not entirely to the liking of Spotify, or users.
This usually means higher prices for users or lower revenue for developers, and for the audiobook system, a system similar to that of Spotify Premium subscriptions had been establishedwhere the purchase is not technically made within the application, so Apple does not take that percentage, and the user does not notice any price increase.
Now, the ability has been removed from the app following Apple’s efforts to not accept any version of the application that contains the possibility to purchase the audiobooks externallyso for now, we will have to acquire them through a browser on the web version or from the desktop application.
Without a doubt, it is a great stumbling block for the goal of Spotify, which was to increase their income significantly.
