July 3 (Portaltic/EP) –
Spotify is considering incorporating music videos in an attempt to join the trend of content consumption by younger users, in direct competition with YouTube and TikTok.
The company responsible for the streaming music and podcast platform has started talks with its partners to incorporate a new product, music videos or video clips.
This content would be part of the platform’s efforts to make videos a central part of its application, as it has shared. Bloombergwhich cites sources familiar with these plans.
Specifically, it would be about adding full-length music videos, since it currently supports short formats, such as a gif that plays on a loop or clips of up to 30 seconds.
With videos, Spotify would seek a niche in a market in which platforms such as YouTube and Tiktok stand out, whose young audience demands this type of format for content consumption.
