Spotify has stopped manufacturing Car Thing, a device that allowed the streaming music application to be connected to a car’s USB drive, with an exclusive interface for its use.
The company started testing this product a few months ago as an alternative to device connection support automobiles of the Pioneer and JVC-Kenwood brands, which became obsolete in the middle of last March.
This device was mainly intended for users with older cars, since Spotify currently works with applications such as Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

In statements collected by gadgeta Spotify spokesperson has alleged that the company has made this decision due to “several factors”, including low demand and supply chain problems.
Despite this withdrawal, the units of Existing Car Thing will continue to function and will put up for sale the devices already manufactured by $49.99 (49.35 euros at the current exchange rate), instead of the 89.99 dollars (88.84 euros) of its usual price.
