Splave manages to bring an ASUS RTX 4090 up to 4005MHz

Splave, an experienced and enthusiastic overclocker has managed to reach 4005 MHz with the ASUS RTX 4090 ROG Matrix GPU, thus achieving a milestone by surpassing the 4000 MHz mark previously set by Cens, the overclocker who has managed to take the crown of 4GHz in terms of overclocking for GPUs.

This feat was achieved using the ASUS RTX 4090 ROG Matrix GPU, an as-yet-unreleased model that is liquid-cooled, though unsurprisingly, this feat has been achieved using liquid nitrogen, so so that obviously we won’t be able to hit 4000MHz when this card hits the market –although we should find ourselves with a card that can work at much higher frequencies than usual.

The RTX 4090 was tested using the GPUPI benchmark, a benchmark that we mentioned recently and that allows reaching higher clock speeds, so in a way we will still have to wait for someone daring manages to take an RTX 4090 up to 4000MHz in a 3D application, much more demanding in terms of stability.

To achieve these extraordinary clock speeds, the RTX 4090 requires a power supply of more than 1000 watts of powerand although the exact consumption of this graphics card for these specific results has not been revealed, it is known that the Colorful iGame GPU required 1.1 KW to break the 3.975 GHz barrier, so it is definitely an extreme overclock level that is not available to everyone, even if you arrive armed with a tank of liquid nitrogen.
