Special Counsel Questions Basis of FBI Investigation of Trump and Russia

Special counsel John Durham, assigned during the Donald Trump administration to investigate the FBI’s investigation of possible links between the Donald Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 presidential race, released his report after 4 years of research.

In it, he concluded that the FBI should never have launched a full investigation into the connections between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia during the 2016 election. Specifically, Durham investigated the FBI’s handling of the Steele file, information leaks information about Trump-Russia contacts and possible CIA misconduct regarding its analysis of Russian meddling, among other topics.

In his 300-page report, he revealed that the FBI used “raw, unanalyzed and uncorroborated intelligence” to launch the investigation and used a different standard when considering concerns about alleged election interference with respect to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

However, Durham did not recommend any new charges against any individual. In this regard, former President Donald Trump reacted on his social network saying that the American public had been deceived as it is currently being.

“WOW! After extensive investigation, Special Counsel John Durham concluded that the FBI should never have started the Trump-Russia investigation,” he wrote on his Truth Social network.

“In other words, the American public was ripped off, just as they are being ripped off right now by those who don’t want to see GREATNESS for AMERICA,” he added, apparently referring to the multiple criminal investigations against him.

For his part, Republican Congressman Jim Jordan, who serves as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, announced that he has contacted the Justice Department to have Durham testify next week.
