Seoul ( / Agencies) – The South Korean government wants to introduce digital textbooks based on artificial intelligence and personalized according to the level of student learning in schools. The plan presented today by the Ministry of Education foresees the adoption of these tools in 2025, starting with students in the third and fourth grades of primary school and the first courses of secondary and higher education, with the aim of extending their use to all classes. in 2027.
Technologies from the metaverse, artificial intelligence and augmented reality will form the basis of the planned digital textbooks for mathematics, English and computer science courses. Once completed, the digital math study tools will offer AI-powered tutorials to help students tackle more difficult problems. Those of English will use voice recognition technology to facilitate the exercises of comprehension and oral expression.
Before May, the Ministry will decide whether to extend the digital textbook project to other subjects. The plan also contemplates the training of 1,500 teachers specialized in digital education.
