July 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The South Korean military authorities have begun an investigation into a series of artillery fires carried out this Sunday by the North Korean Army in what they suspect could be a new show of force by the neighboring country.
For now, and according to military sources from the official South Korean news agency Yonhap, the South Korean Army is almost certain that the shots came from multiple rocket launcher systems, fired between 6:21 p.m. and 6:37 p.m. local time (11:21 and 11:37 p.m. local time). Spanish peninsular), in two trajectories not yet specified.
Likewise, the South Korean Army has not disclosed the origin or destination of the projectiles or the exact number that have been fired.
Following the usual protocol, “South Korea and the United States are working closely” on this incident, according to an additional statement from the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The National Security Office (NSO) is closely monitoring the possibility of additional launches by the North after what is believed to be a repeat of the shots fired last June 12, amid the growing concern that Pyongyang could at some point carry out, after numerous ballistic tests carried out this year, what would be its seventh nuclear test.
