July 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The South Korean Foreign Minister, Park Jin, has condemned the “provocative” launch of two possible ballistic missiles from North Korea, amid the escalation of tensions in the area due to the presence of a US submarine and other previous shots from Pyongyang.

For his part, the head of the Korean Peninsula Peace Regime Office, Chun Young Hee, has deplored the country’s nuclear launch and development as threatening the international community, according to the Yonhap news agency.

In addition, he has assured that North Korea is ignoring the humanitarian situation within the country.

According to the Japanese authorities, the first projectile was launched this Monday around 11:54 p.m. (local time), and the second just five minutes later.

This is already the fourteenth time that North Korea has launched a projectile into the waters of the Sea of Japan as part of a new escalation of tensions to which Seoul, Tokyo and Washington responded jointly with a naval missile defense exercise.

In addition, the arrival of a US-flagged nuclear-powered submarine early Monday morning at the naval base on the South Korean island of Jeju, located south of the Korean peninsula, has only intensified North Korea’s unrest.
