Oct. 3 (Portaltic/EP) –
Sony plans to have two million units of its new virtual reality (VR) helmet ready PlayStation VR 2 for March of next year, within the company’s plans to launch this equipment in early 2023.
The second generation of its virtual reality helmet will arrive in the first months of 2023 accompanied by 20 own and third-party video games. In the absence of Sony confirming the price it will have and specifying a date of arrival on the market, the company has already started its production.
The mass production of this helmet has started in September, and it will be adjusted as the launch approaches, as they have shared with Bloomberg knowledgeable sources on this topic.
The goal, however, is to have two million units manufactured by March 2023, in line with Sony’s most ambitious plans with this second generation, which will not support video games from the first PlayStation VR headset.
The new headset has “much more advanced features” than those offered by PS VR, “such as a completely new controller with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, inside-out tracking, eye tracking, 3D audio and 4K HDR,” as already anticipated.
