Sony intends to enable PS5 game streaming on devices like its Project Q laptopbut first it must offer this streaming function from the PlayStation, something that the company would already be testing according to the information that we can read in Engadget.
The company is testing streaming of compatible PS5 games for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, including titles from the PS Plus game catalog and game tests. As was the case with the PlayStation 3 with the PSP, we will have to use our PlayStation 5 to output the game to consoles like the Project Q.
PS Plus Premium normally costs $15 a month and already enables cloud gaming for PS3, PS4 and “classic” titles, as well as being able to play these games on a PC. PS5 support should make this subscription tier considerably more attractive — as is the case with Xbox Game Pass — especially as Sony expands access beyond the PS5 itself.
It is certainly important for the company to test this system, but it is striking to see how Sony had talked about Project Q without actually having tested a prototype of the streaming system between consoles.
