rail release – Rails unlocked in challenges can be used as another form of fast travel. To launch yourself down the rails, find a rail with a steep slope and activate Sonic’s Power Boost to take shortcuts and reach higher areas with ease. It is best to hold both the boost and jump button while going up.

Kocos Help – As you find lost Kocos, bring them to the Elder Koco to improve your speed and ring ability. By leveling up over time, you can unlock abilities including faster wall climbing, extra health against enemies, and the ability to use Power Boost forever without needing to max out rings. Bring the Red Attack Seeds and Blue Defense Seeds to Hermit Koco to receive useful combat upgrades.

Drop Dash – For the first time, Sonic Mania’s Drop Dash comes in 3D. The Drop Dash is especially useful when you’re trying to scale cliffs and mountains, as the sudden burst of speed will launch you upwards. You can also use it to roll down the hills with ease.
