Excited about this project, which seeks to continue impacting lives, Sonia has created it with the objective of promoting emotional well-being and personal growth.

In addition to her work as a psychologist, Sonia has dedicated part of her career to writing and creating workshops, through which she helps people discover their true potential and find inner peace.

What differentiates you from other psychologists?

“The truth is, what makes me different from other psychologists is my holistic orientation. I trained as a psychoanalytic therapist, but I never stopped studying. I have studied neuroscience, neurobiology, Hinduism, mindfulness, and many other disciplines. My method is holistic: for me there is no ‘one size fits all’, each patient is totally different and each person is given exactly what they need. I think that is what differentiates me from other psychologists.”

He explains that some patients, and sometimes people in general, need to complement their therapy with emotional expansion groups to learn how the mind works. “They need the company of others to be able to heal and experience the magic of the energy that is created in a group. Although the groups may seem didactic, they are therapeutic; that is, they heal.”

A new project

A few years ago he started this project: “My book is full of tools. There must be a desire for change; It’s not just reading. To be, you have to do. You can’t be if you don’t do.

Based on her personal experience and self-help, Sonia explains that she decided to undertake this project because, in a world where the search for identity is more crucial than ever, her book seeks to help the reader discover their true self. “By writing my book, I relived my childhood and discovered my identity. It was a lot of personal work. “I faced my truths and change,” he confesses.

The Rebellion of the Self is full of true stories that he has heard throughout his career: some of people who have not managed to get ahead, others who have and how they did it. “I also share stories from my life because I believe that no one can teach what they have not experienced.”

What is identity?

“The person has two types of identity: the individual and the social, which are in constant struggle. Faced with the great external demand, the need to belong and the fear of being alone, individual identity is diluted, leaving only a social identity. At this point, people stop choosing their lives. But they don’t realize it, since it is an unconscious process. The price comes later, when emptiness, anxiety, low self-esteem, lack of self-love and living without meaning or purpose arrive.”

Sonia reminds us of the importance of knowing ourselves: “You have to know what you like, what you don’t like, where you want to go, what your goal in life is. To answer these questions, you need to have a personal identity. Only then can you

sea decisions. In my book I give the example of Orthodox groups: everyone is equal, everyone thinks the same. “They have no identity or fear, because they have nothing to decide.”

Sonia, in this mental health month, what do you recommend to keep it at its best?

“Self-knowledge is essential to define the purpose of life, establish priorities and strengthen self-esteem. By knowing oneself, a person can identify the path to follow and achieve achievements, which increases personal confidence. This process is accomplished through self-observation and with the help of others, such as a therapist, who can offer a more objective perspective on abilities and possibilities that one sometimes does not see.”

He adds that by understanding oneself better, one can have a clear self-concept and a defined identity, which makes it easier to make decisions with more certainty and live with greater inner peace. “That peace is considered the highest state to which we can aspire as human beings, providing a life with more meaning and stability.”
