Not all aircraft end up in aircraft graveyards when their life cycle is over. Some units, although they can no longer fly, are used to give life to other projects. Businessman Felix Demin transformed the fuselage of an old Boeing 737 in a home with a wide range of amenities for its temporary residents.
And we're talking about temporary residents because Demin doesn't live there. Yes ok, according to account, it was his dream project, he decided to turn it into a place that others could also enjoy. And of course, she also added it to his business portfolio. Today, the place is called Private Jet Villa and can be rented directly from Booking.
A plane on top of a cliff
The project faced numerous challenges. Demin knew exactly what he wanted, but he needed, among other things, the money to develop it. Fortunately, a businessman named Alexander Lebedev became interested in the project and offered part of the necessary capital as an investor to build the hotel-airplane in Bali, Indonesia.
Once financing and the plane were secured, Demin and Lebedev faced a new challenge. They were to carry the aircraft's fuselage to the top of a cliff in Uluwatu, a region on the southwestern tip of the Bukit Peninsula. It was a real logistical challenge that required trucks and cranes.
Since it was practically impossible to transport the entire fuselage to the destination, it was transported in two parts. At this stage, the challenges were much less strange. Well, it was about recycling this aircraft, or what was left of it, into a hotel-aircraft attractive enough to capture people's attention.
Under this premise, those in charge of developing the project were not only in charge of modernizing the interior of the plane, but also opened a huge hole in one of the sides of the fuselage to extend the experience to the outside. An exterior that, by the way, is surrounded by vegetation and a wonderful view 150 m above sea level.
What was once the aircraft's cockpit is now part of the main room with jacuzzi. There is also a first-class suite equipped with a hand-carved marble bathtub elsewhere on the aircraft. The right wing is now a platform that has some outdoor furniture to enjoy the view of the sea.
Private Jet Villa also has other amenities such as a minibar, hairdryer, sound system, outdoor fireplace, and living room. Those staying there can also access a list of cocktails, wines and champagne. This is what the second life of a huge piece of metal that once knew how to transport people looks like.
