The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has indicated through its account on the social network Facebook that the overflight of these devices is prohibited within a radius of eight kilometers from the airport, “except for those who have permission.” by the organism.
Thus, he has stressed that the measure is in line with “international civil aviation standards” and has maintained that he is working to “improve and protect the safety of airplanes” that land and take off at the aforementioned airport. According to information collected by the Somali news portal Caasimada Online, the decision comes after a warning from the United Nations about the possible use of drones by the terrorist group Al Shabaab to carry out attacks against the Halane base, on the perimeter of the airport.
