The Financial Superintendenceworking with him Ministry of Transportationhas issued an important update that directly involves all those who travel with vehicles registered outside the country.
And through the External Circular 013 of 2024the validity of the Mandatory Traffic Accident Insurance (Soat) for foreign vehiclesallowing insurance to be purchased for days according to the time of circulation in the country.

It is worth mentioning that the Superfinanciera had previously established that the minimum validity of the Soat would be 15 days. However, It was established that the accident rate of vehicles that circulate through border areas is not significant.

In addition, a new methodology has been established for calculating this policy, designed to be more fair and accessible to all users. “This update seeks to improve road safety and guarantee that all drivers, regardless of their origin, have the necessary protection“explained the Ministry of Transportation.
