In Colombia, around 90% of the business fabric are micro, small and medium-sized companies. Under this context, the Business Consulting Center of the University of Ibagué decided to focus on this business group, to support them in issues such as problem identification, needs diagnosis and solutions contribution.
The entity, attached to the institution of higher education, has worked throughout the last decade in the development of the business fabric of the region, through consultancies for the formulation, management, execution and evaluation of projects. Thanks to this, and to the network of consultants that the institution has, 101,362 people have benefited.
“Our commitment seeks to carry out training for SMEs and companies in sectors such as agriculture and industry, commerce, health, tourism, the textile and clothing sector, among many others, articulating processes with governmental and non-governmental entities”, expressed Guillermo Alberto González, director of the Business Consulting Center of the University of Ibagué.
From the Consulting Center It stands out as one of its achievements in the last ten years that $3,520 million from public entities, $2,458 million from the national government and $33,047 million from royalties have been managed.
Added to this is the management of resources of $2,924 million from International Cooperation and $765 million contributed by private companies.
Among the consulting profiles that the Center offers are organizational leadership, corporate governance, construction of marketing and digital strategies, development of strategic planning and business model, packaging design and corporate image, support in the improvement and innovation of operations and logistics, care and psychosocial risk analysis, and corporate social responsibility.
“We understand the challenges that companies in the territory have today. For this reason, we have designed programs and training that help both companies in the country and workers who increasingly demand high-value external training,” Gonzalez assured.

“We have the installed capacity of the educational campus, which provides us with state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, auditoriums and pedagogical tools to achieve training and training programs tailored to companies that require their collaborators to develop highly competitive skills to strengthen the organization”, Gonzalez commented.
