The Atento company is one of the big names in the telemarketing service and ‘call center’ in our country. Currently, for example, it manages the emergency telephone number of the Generalitat de Catalunya, with a presence in a large number of public administrations at a national and regional level. A ruling by the Provincial Court of Madrid to which elDiario.es has had access reveals that six of its former workers and managers have accepted six months in prison each after acknowledging that, for years, this contract was deceiving Correos and Adif, getting each one to pay a million euros for calls that the Atento workers had never answered.
