SHEFFIELD, Alabama (WAF)-A Shoals-based educational program visits schools to teach students about the entertainment industry.
On Wednesday, Reach and Teach visited Sheffield Career Technical Department to host a dedicated careers fair they are calling ImaginEX.
Students learned about the entertainment industry through audio and show production, as well as film and television production.
The program attracts people from the industry and combines it with practical experience. Students had the opportunity to use industry equipment to film, edit and produce, operate industry standard software, and receive mentorship from real industry professionals.
Teach and Reach CEO Johnita Romine said it’s important for students to be exposed to different types of career pathways.
“I just think it gives them awareness of what’s out there,” Romine said. “The main thing is that we want to increase knowledge of the different careers that can be accessed. “There are so many different careers out there and some of them haven’t even occurred to you.”
He said with the music industry in their own backyard in Shoals, they should learn how it works.
