Severance pay withdrawals in Porvenir amount to $3.58 billion in the first half of the year

The Porvenir Pension and Severance Fund reported that, at the end of the first half of this year, severance pay withdrawals by its members totaled $3.58 billion. This amount exceeds by 18% the amount reported for the same period in 2023, when $3.04 billion was disbursed.

In addition, the company announced that So far this year, 1,297,964 applications for withdrawal of severance pay have been attended towhile in the first half of last year, 1,211,821 requests for withdrawal of this social benefit were processed, a variation of 7%.

The concept of withdrawal for home purchase was the one that had the most weight with disbursements of $ 1.18 billion, of which 428,617 affiliates made use. This record shows an increase of 28%, compared to the same period in 2023, when 380,416 people withdrew $ 925,886 million.

In second place were withdrawals due to contract termination, which reached $1.16 billion and benefited 509,440 members. This concept, compared to the first half of 2023, had an increase of 19%, when transactions for $981,618 million were recorded and 492,607 people received these resources.

On the other hand, $873,969 million were disbursed for building repairs (6% more than in the first six months of 2023 when $826,529 million were disbursed); for education, the reported figure was $238,519 million (24% more than the same period in 2023 when $192,465 million were disbursed). For other items, the amount disbursed was $125,182 million (10% more than the same period in 2023).

Erik Moncada, Vice President of Clients and Operations at the Porvenir Pension and Severance Fund, revealed that nearly 41% of severance pay withdrawal requests are made through the company’s digital channels.

Regarding the alternatives that Porvenir members have to carry out their procedures, Erik Moncada recalled that currently “Customers have digital channels where they can quickly and safely check their severance pay balance, such as the Porvenir App, the Affiliate Transactional Area on the website, Porvenir Chat and Porvenir Mobile. It is important to remember that the procedures in Porvenir are free and can be done directly by users.”
