Several Spaniards die in a truck accident crashing into a barbecue in Rotterdam

An undetermined number of people have died this Saturday and others have been injured in the Netherlands due to a truck accident transportation of a Spanish company against a neighborhood barbecue in a town near Rotterdamas confirmed by the Dutch police.

The driver, who was uninjured after the accident, has been arrested and transferred to a police station as part of the investigation, according to public television NOS, which has indicated that the truck belongs to “El Mosca”: a company located in the Murcian municipality of Molina de Segura.

The company expert in the transport of goods by land, sea and air, has among its clients the main Spanish and European distribution chains. “El Mosca” carries out routes through the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, France, the Netherlands, and Italy.

The event took place in the town of Nieuw-Beijerland and at the time of the accident a neighborhood barbecue was being held at the foot of a damwhere there was a lot of people. Other victims have been taken to hospital with injuries of varying degrees.

“The cause of the accident is being investigated,” the Rotterdam police said on their Twitter account. “First, the researchers they will inspect the place and then the truck will be removed“, they added.

The work of the emergency services can last hours, according to local authorities. A dozen ambulances and three emergency helicopters are mobilized, as well as a crane to remove the truck from the accident site. At the moment, there is confirmed three fatalities.
