Two Palestinian suspects arrested for this attack

Sep. 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Six Israeli soldiers and the driver of the bus in which they were traveling have been injured in an attack by Palestinian militiamen armed with firearms near Hamra, in the Jordan River Valley, in the West Bank, according to the Israeli Army.

One of the soldiers is seriously injured, while the rest of the wounded are minor. The first aid was provided by members of the Israeli Red Star of David and later they were evacuated by helicopter to the Rambam Hospital, according to the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.

Two Palestinians have been arrested near the site of the attack and have already been placed at the disposal of the Israeli secret services for the interior and the Palestinian territories, the Shin Bet, for interrogation. Firearms allegedly used in the attack have also been seized.

Israeli forces continue to search the area for possible suspects and are examining the vehicle, which has at least a dozen bullet holes in the windshield.

The Israeli Prime Minister, Yair Lapid, has warned that “we will continue to persecute ourselves until we get our hands on any terrorist”. “We will continue to go after whoever tries to harm the citizens and soldiers of the State of Israel,” he said in a message posted on Twitter.

The Israeli press highlights that the troop transfer buses used in the West Bank are usually armored, except in the Jordan Valley, where incidents are less frequent.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Army continues with Operation Break the Wave, which pursues suspected terrorists in the north of the West Bank, mainly in Jenin and Nablus. In the last night three suspects have been arrested in Nablus, Kafer Shabtin and Umm Salmona, near Hebron.
