Self-employed workers affected by the DANA may request the benefit for cessation of activity due to force majeure before their mutual insurance company without having to have the minimum contribution required to be able to access it, according to the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration in its account. of ‘X’.
Within the package of economic measures that the Council of Ministers plans to approve this Tuesday, this special situation of cessation of activity will be included precisely in which no waiting period is required, which is normally 12 months of contributions.
The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration reports on the protection measures available for workers, companies and citizens, and the improvements that must be approved to face the DANA catastrophe.
This special situation, which must see the green light in the Council of Ministers, also contemplates that the days of benefit consumed are not computed for future situations, which is called a zero counter. Furthermore, this period will be counted as contributions. The amount of the benefit reaches 70% of the regulatory base.
As they have informed the Ministry, the mutual societies will also reinforce the dissemination of the steps to request the cessation of activity, with the aim of getting this information to the affected self-employed workers in the area.
Social Security recalls that, since the labor reform, it is allowed to protect workers and the productive fabric in crisis and emergency situations such as DANA through an ERTE due to force majeure, with the company being able to temporarily suspend the employment relationship or reduce the working day.
This measure has a 100% exemption from Social Security contributions for companies and workers and any worker can qualify without consuming unemployment benefits. It is requested at the SEPE or by calling 060.
Regarding the Minimum Vital Income (IMV), Social Security reminds that citizens can obtain information by calling 900 20 22 22. In addition, this Monday the short telephone number 020 was launched, with 40% more staff.
Some of the Social Security offices have suffered serious damage due to DANA. For this reason, the Ministry led by Elma Saiz has requested “maximum caution” to guarantee security and has reinforced its telephone and online attention to citizens.
