SEGEPLAN Guatemala management teams are trained in collaborative public leadership in a workshop facilitated by ILPES

The Planning and Programming Secretariat of the Presidency of Guatemala (SEGEPLAN) held between November 19 and 21, a workshop on collaborative public leadership facilitated by the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES) of ECLAC.

The workshop sought to strengthen SEGEPLAN’s capacities in this matter based on a reflection on the coordination role of the Secretariat between national institutions that implement territorial policies and between the different levels of planning and government (national, regional, departmental, and municipal). ), related to the strengthening of the Departmental Governments of Guatemala.

33 people from different departments of SEGEPLAN participated, who worked for three days on knowledge of concepts and approaches of collaborative leadership and applications for public policies.

The workshop highlighted the contextual nature of leadership processes, pointing out the lack of an optimal or unique model, and highlighting the relevance of social, cultural, economic, political and geographical conditions.

The workshop is part of a set of activities aimed at strengthening capacities in SEGEPLAN linked to topics of foresight, public investment, monitoring and evaluation, and territorial development.

This training is part of the activities of the project “Resilient and inclusive public management systems for sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean” of the United Nations Development Account.
