We are getting closer to the release of sonic frontiers, which promises to mark a before and after in the 3D games of the franchise. SEGA is aware of this, so it shared a video that summarizes everything that it includes sonic frontiers.
Thanks to the new trailer, it is possible to take a look at the combat mechanics and the new abilities of Sonic, such as the Cyloop, which will allow you to surround enemies and defeat them, as well as discover new areas and secrets in the Starfall Islands.
The advance recalled that there will also be bosses that will offer Portal Gears upon defeating them, which will be necessary to access the portals of Cyberspace.

SEGA explained Cyberspace, the Starfall Islands and the history of sonic frontiers
Perhaps the most interesting thing about the 3-minute video is that it explains why there is a Cyberspace and how it relates to the Starfall Islands. As we have mentioned, Cyberspace is the digital place that houses linear levels inspired by classic environments from the series and that will present a more traditional gameplay compared to that of the open area of the Starfall Islands. Upon completion of these levels, the player will receive keys to open chests that hold the Chaos Emeralds.
According to the video, Sonic along with his friends Tails and Amy were searching for the Chaos Emeralds, but their ship was sucked into a portal. Thus, Sonic appeared without his friends in Cyberspace, a digital place that will show the linear levels that characterize the series. Sonic manages to leave this alternate dimension and arrives at the Starfall Islands, precisely on Kronos Island.
