The operations in Sistan and Balochistan were launched after an attack carried out last week by an extremist group
Nov. 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Iranian authorities announced this Tuesday the death of four alleged “terrorists” during an operation launched after the death of ten agents in an attack perpetrated last week in the province of Sistan and Balochistan (southeast), located near the border with Pakistan.
The spokesman for the ‘Security Martyrs’ operation of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Ahmad Shafaei, has indicated that the operation has been a “blow” for the terrorist groups operating in the area, before raising the death toll at the hands of eight to eight. of the security forces during the last few days.
Likewise, he stressed that the agents have seized various weapons, including some “made in the United States”, while stressing that “efforts to arrest those responsible for the evil and insecurity in Sistan and Balochistan are still underway”, according to Iranian news agency Tasnim reported.
The authorship of the aforementioned attack was claimed by Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice), an extremist group that operates in the province, with a Baloch majority, and which has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks against Iranian security forces in recent months.
Jaish al-Adl was founded in 2012 by former members of an extremist organization in the province, one of the most impoverished in Iran. Tehran has on several occasions called on Pakistan – which is also facing operations by Baloch separatist groups in the west of the country – to increase its cooperation to confront these organizations.
