Within the framework of the visit of the commercial mission of Saudi Arabia in Costa Rica, the head of the delegation and Vice Minister of Investment of that nation, Badr Al-Badr, acknowledged the interest in investing in medical tourism projects, desalination in Guanacaste and port and air infrastructure, among others.
The group of businessmen and leaders of the Saudi government expressed the importance of generating synergies between the Costa Rican public and private sectors in order to “open doors between the markets of both countries and continue to strengthen bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation,” said Al-Badr. .
During the day, the President of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves Robles, announced support for Saudi Arabia for Expo 2030 and said that the Central American country is confident that this visit led by Vice Minister Al-Badr will bring very positive results in the generation of jobs and new investment.
The Costa Rican Foreign Minister, Arnoldo Andre, stressed that these efforts seek to achieve support for the development of port and airport infrastructure.

“The visit of this delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is testimony to the growth of our friendship and the strong relations between both nations. It has been a productive day, in which the foundations are laid to generate new ideas and new projects for the benefit of the Costa Rican population, thanks to the mutual interest in developing projects”, he added.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recognized that this work tour is in response to Costa Rica’s diplomatic action to strengthen ties and seek opportunities to attract foreign investment.
Saudi Arabia is Costa Rica’s main trading partner in the Middle East. Total trade between the two countries reached $103 million dollars in 2022. During the foreign minister’s recent visit to the Middle East, at the beginning of this year, the creation of a Business Council between Costa Rica and Saudi Arabia was signed, with the purpose of facilitating relations between companies on both sides.
The Costa Rican ambassador in Saudi Arabia, Francisco J. Chacón, stated that the presence of the mission has a very positive impact on bilateral relations, taking into account that the group of about 70 senior executives was able to meet with government authorities from the Ministries Foreign Relations, Foreign Trade (COMEX), Public Works and Transportation (MOPT), Procomer, CINDE, ICE, Tourism, Science, Technology and Telecommunications, and representatives of business chambers and the private sector.
