Saturday, November 19 and 26, and December 3: Third Congress of Patients with Digestive Diseases


Organized by the Chilean Society of Gastroenterology (SChGE) together with 7 groups, foundations and patient associations, the free access virtual event is aimed at patients with different gastrointestinal pathologies. Every Saturday, in AM hours, topics such as: inflammatory bowel diseases such as Irritable Colon, Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease will be analyzed in blocks; digestive cancer; liver diseases; celiac disease, intolerance and food allergies; diseases of the pancreas and neurogastroenterology.

The Chilean Society of Gastroenterology (SChGE) together with 7 Foundations, Corporations and Patient Associations, will develop for three consecutive Saturdays from November 19, the third Congress of Patients with Digestive Diseasesfocused on clinical guidance and a meeting space for people living with gastrointestinal cancer and other pathologies such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, hepatitis, intestinal transplantation, gluten intolerance, celiac disease, among others.

With the purpose of forming a community and thus learning among all, corporations, foundations, patients and health professionals, will give life to the third version of this Congress of Patients with Digestive Diseases 2022, which will update patients and health professionals of Chile and Latin America about various gastrointestinal pathologies.

The Dr. Robinson González, past president of the SChGE and coordinator of the activity, highlighted: “This meeting is part of our commitment to patient groups, corporations and foundations dedicated to helping the sick. We are happy to be able to contribute to strengthen this cycle of educational sessions and thus guide our patients throughout the country, as well as the network of health officials. The first year we had almost 6,000 contacts and in the second with all the platforms we reached 59,000. Our dream is to reach 100,000 people connected in these days this time”.

The conference on November 19 will have two blocks, the first dedicated to inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease; and a second block on digestive cancer. The conference will analyze inflammatory disease in children and adolescents, fertility and pregnancy, and emotional health. While the cancer block will address stomach cancer, prevention, colon polyps and the determining role of patient associations. Each day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at approximately 12:40 p.m. Live broadcast from www.congresodepacientes.cl, with free access.

On Saturday, November 26, the turn is to talk about liver diseases (cirrhosis, hepatitis C, liver transplants) and healthy eating; and in a second block about Celiac Disease, food intolerances and allergies. Finally, on Saturday, December 3, neurogastroenterology experts will analyze various aspects of irritable bowel syndrome and gastroesophageal reflux, highly prevalent conditions in the Chilean population.
