• San Jose Costa Rica. OCTOBER 6, 2023: Climate Change and Public Electromobility in Costa Rica.

Objective: dissemination of relevant information about the transition towards public electromobility in Costa Rica to a broader public, including sectors of the legislative branch, technical sectors and the private sector. Promoting debates to incorporate broader points of view on the topic is also an objective to achieve. Likewise, present the current status of ECLAC’s contributions in terms of electromobility for the replacement of sustainable buses in Costa Rica in the context of the Technical Assistance to Costa Rica in matters of electrification of public transport requested from ECLAC by the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity – ICE.

Participating entities: transportation entrepreneurs, international cooperation agencies, public and private financial entities, specialists in the subject, governing institutions of the transportation sector, electricity suppliers and local governments.

Results: ECLAC’s work on electromobility, financing and investment for the replacement of sustainable buses in Costa Rica was presented at the Seminar, generating debates on the economic, financial, regulatory and operational viability with various sectors involved in achieving it. of the transportation electrification objectives in Costa Rica. All institutions rated the results, discussions, conclusions and recommendations as being of very high interest and usefulness. The local press published a very lengthy newspaper article about the technical aspects of the publication and presentation made by the DDE at the event.
