Samsung to Release More Exynos SoCs with AMD Radeon GPUs

The Samsung Exynos 2200 was the first SoC born from the collaboration between the Korean brand and AMD, integrating its integrated Xclipse GPUs based on AMD RDNA 2 architecture. This SoC made its appearance at the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the rest of the S22 line in Europe and other markets. The Xclipse GPU was the first to offer raytracing and VRS on mobile.

However, it seemed that Samsung had thrown in the towel in the high-end SoC market after launching the Galaxy S23 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, but now, the company has announced a new collaboration with AMD to launch new SoCs with Radeon graphics.

The agreement will last for several years and will see the creation of several generations of Exynos chips with GPUs based on AMD architectures. We will have to wait to find out what new processors arrive with these GPUs and if they make the leap to the new RDNA 3 architecture that the company is already beginning to integrate into APUs like the one that will have the next ASUS console, the ASUS ROG Ally.

We may not see a new Exynos SoC with AMD GPUs in the Galaxy S24, but it is to be hoped that for the Galaxy S25 range Samsung will once again rely on its own SoCs for its most cutting-edge terminals.
