Oct. 26 (Portaltic/EP) –
The new privacy feature of Samsung for your Galaxy devices is called ‘Maintenance mode’ and it has begun its deployment on the S21 and S22 smartphones, where users can already block access to their data while their devices are reviewed by technical teams.
Samsung has started the global deployment from ‘maintenance mode’ after a pilot program in Korea and the initial launch in China. With this privacy feature, the tech company seeks to prevent users from worryingly handing over their devices for repair.
The ‘maintenance mode’ allows you to create a separate user accountso that technicians can operate the main functions but unable to access private information of the user, which includes photos, documents and messages.
This way also does not allow access to installed applications by the user. As Samsung explains on your websitetechnicians will be able to download apps from the Galaxy Store, but these will be automatically deleted along with any data or accounts created as soon as the owner exits ‘maintenance mode’.
The global rollout of this privacy feature kicked off this Wednesday and will continue throughout 2023. It is now available on select Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 5 or later, including Galaxy S21 and S22 seriesalthough it will be extended to more models.
