Samsung introduces 200 MP ISOCELL HPX sensor with 0.56-micrometer pixels



Despite Samsung already has some 200 MP sensorsthe HP1 and the HP3, the company has added anotherthe new Samsung ISOCELL HPX. It seems that it will not be included in the company’s new top-of-the-range phones, the Samsung Galaxy S23, either, since it seems intended only for the Chinese mobile phone market.

The new Samsung ISOCELL HPX is designed to offer higher quality in low light environments, in addition to 200 MP, it includes special Tetra 2 Pixel binning modes to offer 12.5 MP and 50 MP in different lighting environments. It also allows video recording at 8K and 30 FPS and its pixel size is 0.56 micrometers. All this with a sensor that can occupy up to 20% less.

In low light conditions, the sensor is able to increase the pixel size down to 1.12 microns for 50 MP mode and down to 2.24 microns for 12.5 MP mode. Other features are Smart ISO Pro which allows you to capture a virtually unlimited color combination. It also has progressive HDR capable of capturing shadows and reflections with three different exposure modes. This sensor also allows to reproduce images with more than 4 billion colors thanks to its 14-bit color depth.
