The industry is already preparing for the next generation GDDR7 memory, samsung has announced what already has finished the development of its GDDR7 memory with speed up to 1.4 times higher to the fastest GDDR6 and with a lower consumption. These new memory modules will be installed on test systems for your verification during 2023 in Samsung partner customers.
this new 16 gigabit memory is the fastest in its category with a speed of 32Gbpscapable of enhancing the systems that use AI or HPC. This speed represents an increase of 1.4 times more compared to the 24 Gbps GDDR6 currently in use. This increases the current bandwidth of 1.1 TBps of GDDR6 up to 1.5TBps of this new GDDR7. This is possible thanks to the adaptation of the PAM3 system instead of using NZR as in previous versions.
But it also comes with a Significant energy savings, up to 20% less consumption which is current GDDR6, and optimized for high-speed operations. In addition, for applications that require it in portable devices, these memories have a low voltage mode. It has also been used high conductivity material to offer greater dissipation, reducing thermal resistance by up to 70%. Thus, better results are achieved, even when GDDR7 has to offer the maximum.
