Samsung believes it can beat TSMC over the next five years

Although we have recently mentioned the situation in the world of semiconductor manufacturingwhere companies like AMD and Qualcomm are relying on Samsung to manufacture their chipsit seems that additionally Samsung believes that it can surpass TSMC’s manufacturing technology in five years.

This information originates from PC Gamerwhere Kyung Kye-hyun, president and head of Samsung’s semiconductor business, would have assured this, although he has also acknowledged that Samsung is currently below the pace they would like, with technology that is a year or two behind TSMC’s.

However, it appears that 2-nanometer manufacturing technology should be paying off for Samsung, as Kyung believes the company has the assured edge as the industry moves toward 2-nanometer processes, partly thanks to the movement to GAA (Gate-All-Around) transistors in its process at 3 nanometers, some transistors apparently necessary for more advanced nodes.

Be that as it may, if this is true, it will be an interesting moment for everyone, since with greater production capacity in “competent” nodes – there are many companies that prefer TSMC compared to Samsung today – we can also enjoy more competitive prices.
