Samsung’s line of M.2 NVMe SSDs has always been known for its high-performance “Pro” models. However, its latest major release fell short and disappointed many by being stuck on the PCI Express 4.0 standard. This was the Samsung 990 Pro. The company soon worked on the 990 EVO, which, while compatible with PCIe 5.0, was limited to X2 speed and offered lower performance than the Pro model.

It seems that the Korean company wants to compete again in this sector, increasingly full of PCIe 5.0 models, and has announced the Start of production of its PM9E1 SSDsa model PCI Express 5.0 x4 native who will reach the whopping figure of 14.5GB/s sequential read speed, making it the world’s fastest PCIe 5.0 SSD.

Sequential write speeds won’t be exactly low either: 13 GB/s thanks to the use of the company’s eighth generation 3D V-NAND memory working alongside a 5-nanometer controller (also from Samsung).

The Samsung PM9E1 They will be available in capacities of 512 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB and there will also be a more capable variant with 4 TB of storage.
