Sacyr and OHLA, along with five other companies, have been shortlisted in a public tender in Peru to win a toll road concession that will require an investment of 1,026 million dollars (950 million euros).
This is the ‘Longitudinal de la Sierra, Section 4’ project, which includes the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of 965 kilometers of toll roads during a concession period of 25 years.
The investment is distributed in 5.20 kilometers of construction, 179.3 kilometers of rehabilitation of existing sections and 780.7 kilometers of initial periodic maintenance (MPI) of other existing subsections, according to the information consulted by Europa Press, which points to the second quarter of the year as the award date.
The Spanish companies Sacyr and OHLA, alone, have already managed to be among the five finalists to be awarded this project, for which the Chinese CCCC, the Argentine consortium Benito Roggio-Rovella Carranza, the Peruvian Grupo Hidalgo, the operator SurPerú and the Grodco-Ingeniería Estrella consortium (Colombian and Dominican).
Sacyr’s history in Peru includes more than 20 engineering, infrastructure and industrial projects, making it currently the largest company in that country dedicated to road maintenance, with more than 2,200 kilometers of roads.
In fact, the firm chaired by Manuel Manrique already operates the ‘Longitudinal de la Sierra, Section 2’ highway, a concession of 875 kilometers. It is also present in other projects such as the Jorge Chávez International Airport or the Lima Airport.
As for OHLA, it began its activities in Peru in 1999, with its first focus being the road construction sector, followed in 2012 by its foray into the mining sector. Four years later he also entered the construction field. It currently employs more than 3,500 employees in the country.
