Russian TV channel RT rejects UK accusations of bias

July 18 () –

The Russian public television channel RT has rejected on Monday the accusations made by the media regulator in the United Kingdom (Ofcom), which ensures that the medium partially reports on the war in Ukraine.

A spokesman for RT has indicated that Ofcom revoked the station’s broadcasting license months ago, although it is now when it has ruled on the alleged breaches and violations by the media outlet.

“They follow exactly that order. First they dictate the verdict and then they judge,” he asserted before wondering what the next measures Ofcom will take against the channel.

His words come after Ofcom, after examining several RT programs, pointed out that the chain violated the rules of impartiality on thirty occasions in just four days. The agency considers these violations to be “serious and repeated.”

However, in May it had already announced the revocation of the license on the grounds that “it is not suitable or appropriate” to broadcast in the United Kingdom, something that the chain itself described as a purely politicized decision after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
