June 11 () –
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported this Tuesday that a group of vessels from the Northern Fleet has carried out training with high-precision missiles in Atlantic waters, maneuvers that will lead them to dock in Cuban ports.
According to Russian authorities, these are the nuclear-powered submarine ‘Kazan’ and the frigate ‘Admiral Gorshkov’, whose crews “practice the use of high-precision missiles through computer simulation against naval targets.”
These “naval objectives”, as specified by the Russian Ministry of Defense in a brief statement, “represent conventional naval groups of the enemy” and are located at a distance of approximately 600 kilometers away.
The training also consists of crew combat actions, interaction of command posts and combat posts, firing with naval artillery and anti-aircraft missiles against “simulated air targets.”
The submarine ‘Kazán’ and the frigate ‘Almirante Gorshkov’ are part of the group of vessels that the Cuban Government announced last week that would dock in the port of Havana sometime this week as part of training maneuvers.
