MOSCOW, May 28. (DPA/EP) –

The head of Russia’s Investigative Committee (equivalent to the country’s Attorney General’s Office), Alexander Bastrykin, has ordered the opening of proceedings against prominent US Senator Lindsey Graham, a member of the most conservative Republican party, for inciting violence. against the russians

“In a video that circulated on the Internet, US Senator Lindsey Graham spoke about the financial involvement of the United States in the murder of Russian citizens during a meeting with the president of Ukraine,” the Russian agency has reported on its Telegram channel.

Bastrykin is referring to a video showing Graham meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as part of his visit to Ukraine this week. The president thanks the senator for his help to the Ukraine, to which Graham appears to reply: “And the Russians are dying… Best money we’ve ever spent.”

The video to which Bastrykin refers could not be verified from the United States and the DPA agency explains that the sound quality is very poor at the particular moment to which the Russian prosecutor refers.

However, the comments have sparked a wave of outrage in Russia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov spoke of a “shame” that such senators represented the United States. Russian Foreign Spokesperson Maria Zajaarova stated that US investments had caused World War II and the Holocaust.

Now the United States was financing “the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev,” Zakharova added, taking up Russia’s position that its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February last year was necessary to defeat Nazism.
