The Russian ambassador to the UN, Vasili Nebenzia, assured this Thursday at a session of the United Nations Security Council that diplomatic relations between Russia and the European Union “no longer exist”.

Nebenzia has ruled, in a session before the aforementioned body on cooperation between the UN and regional and subregional organizations, that its relations with the EU are an “abyss”, as reported by the TASS news agency.

“When historians describe the years 2022-2023, in the section related to the European Union, the most frequent words will probably be the following: degradation, impotence, myopia and Russophobia,” he stressed.

Nebenzia has charged against the High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell, and has expressed that “over the last year” Moscow has learned “that the fight for peace by European diplomats is reduced to the growing flow of arms towards the conflict zone.

“Thanks to you, Mr. Borrell, over the last year we have learned a lot about Europe and the true essence of European diplomacy,” he said, adding that the EU is discussing how to dismember the Russian Federation, words that the minister also spoke on Thursday of Russian Defense, Sergei Shoigu.

“Today we are very aware that all these fables about good neighborliness, association and common spaces were just a smoke screen to prepare a confrontation with Russia,” Nebenzia argued.
